Title: Good news-bad news
Post by: yossam on April 11, 2013, 09:49:27 PM
First, the good news:

Ringworld and Childhood's End are both going to be made into mini-series for tv broadcast.

Now, the bad news:

Sy-Fy channel is the one making the mini-series.  :'(

There were no particulars, just the announcement.

I just hope they don't use the cheesy FX they use in their weekly monster movies.

You should read Childhood's End.............very good.  :)

Is that Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End?

If so, I read that when I was a teen. I remember throwing that book across the room when I finished with it. Well written ... but I found it depressing.

Yes, it is. The last time I read it was probably around 1970. Damn, that's a long time ago.  :o

I read Ring World around 1970. Talk about climate change. There would be no coriolis effect or seasonality. And who could possibly build or maintain such a structure or protect it from such things as comets?

I beleive it did have an automated commet defense system...
Oh all the other matter in the system had been used to make the ringworld.

yea so long as it was the team that made their Dune series it should be prety good.
