Title: Import a Houdini cloud in Terragen (vdb import?)
Post by: lookdev on December 05, 2018, 02:18:06 AM
Hi,
Is there, will there be a way to import a Houdini Cloud in Terragen? vdb import?

Not at this time. We are first working on VDB export, which is available on Linux at present with Terragen 4.3. We hope to support VDB import in the future as well.

Hi,

Any ETA on when you plan working on VDB import options ?
We're currently doing RnD for a project with a lot of cloud shots that required simulated clouds from Houdini to be rendered as realistically as possible. Our tests with Terragen give convincing results with usable render speed, but if we cannot import those clouds, we're stuck. If implementing this is a matter of months, we know we'd better look for other options, but as the other discussion about exporting VBD seem to show good progress we where hoping that maybe the import options is not too far away ...

Thanks,
Bruno

I would say unfortunately it is a matter of months, and not less at this point. So far only work on export has been done, as far as I'm aware.
