Getting close. Several more tweaks to do. This low quality render took a little over an hour.
ohhh, this is very nice! Great mood and colors here :D
That's coming together very nicely, definitely has an 'Icelandic' feel to me.

Thank you. I've got some decisions to make before tweaking. The steam vents need some work.

Thank you Doug, still much to do.
Looking real nice Bob....
For the vents, will you make a crater, or have a pile of rocks?
It seems that these vents are quite varied in their appearance!
Some have fairly diffuse steam others have really dense billowing clouds... I guess a lot depends on climatic conditions as much as geology!
:)
Cheers
Jason
Thank you Jason, that is something to think about.
Here is a close up of the Landing area that emphasizes the use of Cubes and Fake stones. I'll not use the wooden landing object. Would be nice if I could make the image large enough to capture the entire scene at this camera position; but, I'm afraid my system wouldn't handle it.
great bob! I like a lot the stone foundation and dock. I can see this is going to be really nice when you finish.
Thank you Michael, getting near finishing; but then, they're never really finished are they?
Finished with about eight weeks to go. I've decided to forget about doing any post-work as things seem to be OK. Tried making the water to appear as a geothermal pool.
Image title in Icelandic means 'Iceland beauty'.
I like it! Very nice ;)
Thank you.
Pretty nice Bob. Looks a bit noisy though here. Since you've got the time, maybe render with higher quality settings?

Thanks Oshyan; but too late, I've already submitted it.
I doubt it's truly too late, I'd be surprised if they would not accept an update, especially if it's the same image and you just want to improve quality.
Honestly I feel people have a surprisingly rigid sense of these contests and their rules. NWDA are all reasonable folks, they will want to prevent cheating and other unfair behavior, but that's about it.

Thanks Oshyan, I'll check with Danny before I re-render. I didn't see noise; but, my eyes are older than yours; and, a seven year old computer.
My settings were 8 quality and 7 AA.
It's in the clouds, mostly. So probably atmo/cloud sampling issue.
- Oshyan
Thanks; lots of clouds here, will go through them.
Oshyan is right.
I just want to convey to everyone that's its completely acceptable to update your entry even after submitting at any time until Feb 14th 2015. We certainly understand the feeling when you walk away from an image for a few days only to comeback to see some changes that you would like to implement. It's not a problem.
Danny
Nice one Bob! Kind of dreamy.
Agree with the others regarding the atmo-noise.
Keep going!
Thanks Jochen, I'm re-cooking it right now.

Thanks Danny, I'll be back with an improvement.
Nice one, Bob. Very calm and moody.

Thank you Hannes, enjoyed working on this; and, your birdies are in it.
