I have searched the "Works in Progress" for the Iceland Contest, and I didn't find any thing like this. Has anybody tried something like this yet? This is the first render of my work in progress, and I'm not sure exactly how to achieve what I am after. Back to work ..........
I assume you're going for aurora? It has been done before, but it would be nice to have something like that in the contest! Look for older threads about aurora borealis, plenty info there.

Nice start, Dune is right, there was some work done creating aurora borealis' in the past. Check here and Ashunder ;)
Good start! I have made some semi-convincing aurora using very brightly colored clouds. It looks like maybe you're doing the same thing here?
