Title: Planetary Rings
Post by: cyphyr on January 30, 2017, 03:05:00 PM
Planetary rings for saturn type planets:
Please let me know if you can't download and I'll find some other way of sharing. The files used as masks are quite large ...

Nice share!

I'm not sure why there are 4 images included, both a TIF and BMP version? The TIF should be all that's necessary. In fact may I suggest (strongly :D) that you avoid the .bmp format as much as possible, and also use compressed TIF (or PNG). Your TIF here does not appear to be compressed, and just using the commonly-supported LZW compression your 240MB TIF becomes just 70MB. The 102MB BMP color image becomes 13.3MB as PNGs (with no quality loss, of course) or 15.9MB in compressed TIFF. The black/white image (mask) becomes even smaller, 2.25MB.

I was being lazy, I shall fix. Total of 23 mb now and all png's
(I don't know why I still bother with bmp's force of habit I guess)
