Title: Voxelogic's Acropora - Best Rock Formational Modeler for TG2?
Post by: Blackheart6004 on June 18, 2010, 06:35:30 PM
Ever wondered how to do those Terragen 2 Expert-Like canyons or cliffs?

I dunno. I've found a program on evermotion.org that uses multi-octave 3D noise to create such unique terrains that I've really want to get without going into the Node Network to do them (trust me, I suck at making those fractalized voronoi terrains you seen in TG2's site). Maybe this is the correct program to do suck land formations with a hassle with the node network. Plus you can saved them as .OBJ as TG2 tends to import this file system.

Here's the site to the program to look and try the demo - http://www.voxelogic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1&Itemid=2.

Also the gallery for terrain and rock formation examples - http://www.voxelogic.com/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=13

Share your thoughts if this is an excellent program you don't tend to use the node network and/or shaders for those rock formations you always wanted to go for.

Hm, imho TG2's internal system works perfectly for these types of terrains; you don't even need the node network really.
Also, there are enough files ready for download.
Another Problem i see is the import as obj. You can't displace objects that are not TG2 internal as the mesh "explode".
