Le grand Saut
just some Blur to have an amusing effect (like runnig to the end of the cliff)
I like the idea of the blur....distinct!....
but I am not sure about the water at this height....I am sorry but I am not trying to be a bad ass critic....
and I absolutely love your clouds!
i know what you mean about the water !!!
i loved it in the preview window... it was like a an odd and strange detail. but in the final render i just don't like it ^^
thanks for the critic man ! that's the only way to try to get better ;)
no problemo! :)
i'll render it again without the water with a slight change of pov too...
btw, don't bother telling me the water doesn't fit the terrain by stopping with an end of world effect... i did some bad mistakes on this one ^^
Hmm...running to the end of a cliff certainly doesn't sound like anything I want to be doing, but it's definitely a sweet picture and interesting idea!
Ooooh. Need a science-fiction-like dome popping out from the clouds. Or maybe two. ;D
I think the water looks nifty. Why not make it frozen then but then again how high are we anyways? ;D
Yeah water look strange on the top of the mountains but the clouds are really well done.
Hmmm. I like it. The blur is an interesting effect but I prefer the version without it. The water may be a little artificial but it adds interest so I say keep it.
Are you using two suns? I only ask as the light on the foreground looks to be coming from a different direction from the light on the clouds.
yeah, there are 2 suns :)
here is an update
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2178/2208826350_51cf9b91a4_o.jpg)
tone the displacements down a little in foreground!...I like it way better without the water!
Wow, incredible lighting. It might be that the angle of the sun (a key component to this beautiful light) might also be causing extra shadows in the rough displacements that normally would appear to be fine otherwise. Not sure I'd change it.
Scale might be nice. I can't tell how close I am to the foreground. This could help the rough terrain issue, if something small enough was seen traveling across the unforgiving terrain. :)
Wow, that recent image looks incredible. I love that scratchy rough looking rock!
thanks ^^
i'm still looking to improve it, so if anybody has an idea i'll take them ;)
perhaps some vegetation or buildings (as calico said...)
Very nice work Seth!
I prefer you add some vegetation instead of buildings.
I think you can best add quite small scale vegetation and quite dense, so probably a few hundred-thousands of trees. Then add another population of slightly larger and taller trees for variation. Think that would look great!
Without it it's already great work so just see what you can do :)
Martin
thanks T-U !
i'll try small scale vegetation as you suggest ! i am not in a hurry but i am not very patient so i'll keep workin on this one :)

Looking forward to see the results! I hope you'll succeed as I'm still unable to render decent looking populations. They all look very pixelated and not by far as good as Christian's populations like in his 'China'-image if you know what I mean.
yeaaaah... i really know what you mean !
The new version is much improved, can't waith for the next ;)
i tried to render this scene with some population (6 or 7 times already) but it crashed every time...
so i am trying again with lower atmo quality and les population (and less quality for far pop too...)
getting tired of those crashes... i think i need more RAM... and more stable software too <grin>
i've added some vegetaion... few because it crashed everytime...

Ooh, I like that. Very nice.
hoe about some pine trees.....but I like this too....
Very, very nice. I love the lighting and the perspective. Great piece.
thanks guys ^^
Yeah man! Exactly the scale what I had in mind, great! It's a pity you can't render denser populations due to stability problems. Hopefully the upcoming release will make it possible for you.
Fantastic work Seth!
thank you very much T-U
Great job! The displacements look much better here and the green from the vegetation expands the color area nicely. Well done :).
WOW the new foreground gives a lovely sense of scale.
I think it needs some water ;) I don't know here you guys hike but it's not uncommon to have pools of water on rocky mountain tops. The only thing that looked odd with the water was the size of the waves. They're usually more like mirrors unless there's a strong breeze because there's not enough distance for wind driven waves to reach much size.
If you put them in, then you're implying that it's very rocky so you probably won't find many plants above knee high as a consequence of the shallow soil. Other than that... love the clouds and lighting and texturing. Reminds me of a hike I did in Tasmania some time ago.

Panoramas 7 and 8 show that it's quite a wet area, even during a drought. You can't see any nearby pools, but I found a few (it was either that or walk all the way down to get more water)
wow nice panoramas man !
Cool, BigBen!! These are all from photographs, right?
Yes.. all from photographs
Thanks. Going to a place in my mind I might never be.
