By popular demand we have extended the submission deadline to April 11th at 11:59PM Pacific Time! We hope this bit of extra time will allow all of you to get your scenes to the highest level of quality you are capable of and to create something you're really proud of. If you've already submitted, you can use the extra time to refine your entry further and resubmit, or create a whole new entry.
Remember: we don't need super high detail/quality renders (i.e. high render settings), but we do want the most well designed and detailed scenes. Spend your time refining your terrain shapes and shading, adding more layers of rocks and debris, increasing randomness and the realistic look of nature, adding additional layers of population, underbrush, etc., and increasing the realism and variety of your skies, atmosphere, and lighting. We'll be able to see the potential in your scene even if rendered at relatively low quality (e.g. even at the default of 0.5 Detail and AA3).
Good luck!

Great! I really got the hang of it , though things are not running smooth, and the default is what I'm rendering at. So now I have the time to re-evaluate my initial renders as being test renders and maybe deliver some better quality. Also there's the issue of how to stitch them six renders together to get an image that will qualify for VR panorama... More time to sort that out!
oh! A fighting chance then 8)
Thanks PS.

I think if you use the script Matt supplied they will automatically stitch correctly Andy. Assuming you don't have a Spherical camera but you do so I think what you are worrying out is something PS will handle if you submit say 3-5 different scenes. My understanding if all settings stay the same over all the renders they can do a hot spot thing in Occulus...I'm open to correction on that though.
And thanks for the extension...guess I better get back to it eh?
Thanks. Good news :)
What is the best way to resubmit?

You could put something in the comments to let us know that this is a resubmission, or just give the entry a different name. That way there's no chance of confusing it with an earlier submission.
Matt
Fantastic. Thanks guys!
You do not need to stitch cube maps yourself. Just submit the 6 individual renders.

That's a relief, thank you!
#sighofrelief
Excellent news, panic for final renders postponed. I might celebrate and get some sleep tonight ;D
Just to be sure, the deadline is 23:59 PST.
That means the guy's and galls in Europe have until about 8:00 Tuesday morning (Amsterdam time).
Did I calculate that correctly?

Hurry, 10 seconds left...
...oops, do they have summertime in Amsterdam? ;D
I didn't know you would read it that fast ::)
You know, I'm a smartass! ;) ;) ;)
Have to be more careful next time, I know ;)
Ulco, let's create another one in the next 54 minutes?! ;D ;D ;D
First!!!! ;) ;) ;) (Just kidding...)
You're a winner, Hannes! Speed challenge would be cool. You can do a lot in 54 mins. But not now, please.
;D ;D ;D
I'm pretty sure there are 50 shades of grey in Hannes' entry... The sense of depth is awesome, btw!
