A depiction of Yuma in the southwest of Arizona. Saguaros are few and are outnumbered by the Organ Pipe Cactus. The area is much sandier than other parts of the state; and, is very near the Colorado River valley. The models and preset files used here are:
• Stones and Dust preset files by 'Seth' (Franck Dossans). The files are available at NWDA. http://www.nwdanet.com/index.php
• Grass Pack by 'Walli' (Jan Walter Schliep). Available at NWDA. http://www.nwdanet.com/index.php
• Mouse-eared Chickweed by 'Walli' (Jan Walter Schliep). Available at NWDA. http://www.nwdanet.com/index.php
• Both the Organ Pipe Cactus and the Dry Grasses are available at Ashundar and were reworked by a friend. Authors are not known. http://www.ashundar.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=179bc8b8e4e3cef279a9fdb93d641764&action=tpmod;dl=cat5
A 'Fractal' terrain was created with low areas flattened by using the 'Blend Displacement at zero .tgd' file by 'Hetzen' and is available at the Planetside Forum. http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=8638.0
Enjoy.
I like this image Choroner . Nice POV :)

Love this Bob, the sky is superb, as is the depth, nice quality settings too!
Great render Bob!

Thanks all for visiting; appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Very nice setup. I like the atmo. But if you want (positive) crits: I'd replace the 'fat' green grass by some bleached, brownish thin stuff, more scattered among little stones, more apt to a desert scene. Some clumps also seem to float.

Thanks friend, I know what you mean. Sometimes (like this year with all the rain), the typical desert mountain areas turn an unbelievable green - later tho, when the heat rises, everything turns the color of straw - then comes the fires. I will keep your suggestion in mind for the future.
great image - superb sky and interesting POV
I need to check out the "flatten low area" tgd, you used it to great effect. You have a wonderful scene here.
@choronr: I totally forgot about deserts turning green (we don't have them here), but you're right of course. In my mind a desert is (was) warm coloured, bleached and dry...
What really strikes me regarding this image is the natural lighting. Well done.
Great image! :)
Beautiful!
