FREE - 4 rigged characters in different file formats
cheers, Klaus
Thank you, the 2 rigged models have no .obj dl so I'm hoping they convert from .fbx
hi Bobby
I converted rp_eric_rigged_001_FBX to a object file via AD Softimage.
But only used the diffuse map to texture the model.
The other maps can surely be put on the model in Poseray.
Here is the link to the file download:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=40509723609249096460
Use the green link in the window NOT the "Download and convert" link.
This is advertising, I think.
Hope it works.
cheers, Klaus

THANKSThey'll last as I posted about the unrigged ones a while back IIRC
You`re Welcome.
And good to know that they keep the models available for free.
In the meantime I have converted the Alison character to a OBJ file as well but tinyupload.com won`t let me upload the file atm.
I`ll try again in 24h or so. I have no idea if the rigging is converted as well. Had no time to check this.
cheers, Klaus

Me neither, just got back from reclaiming all my I D which I'd lost running for the bus yesterday. A very cool D J found it and called me last night so I let him sleep till noon and went way cross town to get it back.
Found out what the error message was about when I tried to upload the Alison character: file size too big.
Very strange, since they advertize a max free file size of 50mb.
Anyways, here it is now coming in two archives:
rp_alison_rigged_001_OBJ_no_tex.zip (object files only)
http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=64809884129315267958
and
rp_alison_rigged_001_OBJ_tex.zip (texture files only)

cheers, Klaus

Thanks again. Now if only there was some way to pose these characters, I tried an .fbx of alison in DAZ but had no luck figuring the program out, I mainly use it for extracting .obj's from .PP2 and .cr2 files myself.
OK, object files do not have the rigging after been converted from fbx, it seems.
I guess you`d have to pose the fbx and then bake the point position before converting to an object.
@bobbystahr I don`t know Daz3D but I noticed that there are literally tons of tutorials on U-tube available for the software.
With a little digging you should find something about how to pose the figurine.
cheers, Klaus

Haven't been able to figure out how to get a 'skeleton' into the .fbx is my main problem atm.
I read about importing fbx files in Daz 3D Studio and it seems they do not go together well.
Looks like you really have to create the skeleton in Daz from scratch.
I guess i am lucky that AD Softimage deals so well with the fbx.
On import the skeleton structure is converted to joints I can use to pose the character.
cheers, Klaus

I guess I was right all those years ago when I was lusting after SI when my animator pal Richard Condie was doing his animation(La Scala)on one....heh heh heh...He did his first animation, "The Big Snit" on cells hand painted though....gave me my first Amiga1000 he did...he's to blame.
Moved to Other Objects File Sharing :)
