If you haven't seen yet, the Blender 2.8 Beta is looking amazing. The updated UI is more like Modo, and it feels silky smooth.

That looks very promising. I was always put off by the rumours about unintuitive UI, but I might give this a go.
Very nice. Thanks!
Thanks for the information! Looks very interesting and makes me curious!
Does any of you had success to start the 2.8? I tried on 3 PCs and non of them were able to run it. Instant crash.
Installs and starts fine on my computer. Looks really much better than previous versions.

Lucky you. Guess I will have to wait for the final release.

Installed fine on my 16GIG.....One hour to install, make a wireframe cube, set image background....Win10OS
Do you mean 1hr to download? There is no install. You just unzip the archive and run blender.exe

Oh heck no! I had to drop it into my other Blender folder to run while I try a few things out. I have numerous plugins loaded on my stable version. I meant, an old person finding all the new settings (familiarization) etc, etc, experiment, experiment :) :)
Did you see this plugin?

If you're having crashing issues, the BF is going to want to know about it. By most accounts, the Beta is quite stable (some people are actually using it for production projects, though the BF doesn't yet recommend it).
It does require an upgraded OpenGL version compared to earlier versions, but still only 3.3, which is nearly 10 years old.

There's also Graswald ... it's a paid add-on, originally created by a 16 year old kid. (A really smart one!) Makes for some incredibly realistic environments ...

Very interesting. Especially how you can "grow" the trees and they age how you would expect them to over time. Also how you can prune the branches.
It also looks like you can get the trees to react to their surroundings so if you grow a tree near a wall it will inhibit the trees growth.

The price could be a bit lower though...130euros.... :-\
Judging by the images and clips on their site, The Grove does not seem overpriced, certainly not compared to other plant generators. I can't say anything about the functionality; I never tried it.

Wow, the quality is pretty good! You put me in doubt Rene....ehh seems like I will have to come up with some nice justification...my wife will ask some questions for sure hehehe...
Before you decide, make sure you check the pricing on the twigs. I'm not sure if or how you can add leaves without the pay for twigs.
The twigs cost €9,60 each, so that amount may quickly increase with each new purchase. Fortunately, it is also possible to make them yourself; there is even a Simple Twig Starter Pack.
However, this is important:
Q: Does the Grove grow palm trees, bamboo and regular plants?
No. These plants are very regularly repeating structures. The Grove focuses on trees that evolve through branching.
