The last one looks good. The fog is up to the theme :)
Is this the same base scene you posted before? I forget its name Zaai.

yes i have used this before ;) http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=11588.0

just the the dogrose bushes, terrain PF & some of the masks (paint shader)  some of the grass popluations might of have been used too.
everything else is different objects

i should have mentioned on that last render i used a final density modulator on the fog layer.

Post by: Zairyn Arsyn on October 30, 2011, 12:52:59 PM
getting near to a final render i think, something bigger with even higher AA

changes:
fog tweaked slightly
more rocks added
light sources tweaked

C&C are welcome.

Looks good Zaai :)

The only problem i have is especially the bottom lighting looks so even.
like a too high ambient lighting. It does not look bad. And this is not a problem per see.
It looks more like a painting in this way to me.
Title: something eerie v5 wip
Post by: Zairyn Arsyn on October 31, 2011, 09:22:29 AM
the previous versions had AO & GI environment lights, now i just have AO, and the strength on surfaces is pretty low, atmo. strength is set at 0
this scene is pretty much lit by light sources now (a total of 4)

the fog has changed a little and Fake Stones are now darker.
im using the cloud layer functions on this fog, the fractals have been stretched too,

C&C are welcome

Zaai not sure if you made this intentional but the one fog...arm that reaches nearly to the moon looks more like a cloud part now.
I liked the earlier look more.

kadri-
i think i was having to much fun tweaking cloud PF / functions, i got carried away, (i could do dozens of these), they look a little more the way they were before now.

has anyone ever paused a render and forgotten to un-pause it? well i did that today, left it paused the whole day (8 hours  :( )

will have a widescreen version out soon (2560x1600)
so far it looks pretty spooky... ;)

this one is a bit bigger, i did some postwork, added grainy photographic film look to it with Virtual Darkroom, but you can see more details on the bark.

i would post it here, but its larger, and a png.

I guess I'd run away if I would encounter something like that :) Cool image!
Great render quality, these modulated clouds at this size and density aren't that easy to render well. RTA did a good job here.

i started working on it at least a year ago, getting the effect was somewhat random, basically i just stumbled across it while i was tweaking, its gone through several iterations since the start.
