Another medieval village I'm working on. Lot of work making all the houses and militairy barracks from ancient plans with sizes measured in feet and thumbs, and written down in letters and numbers that are hard to read. ::)
looks like a pentagon that grew....lol...feet and thumbs...
Great job, I am sure the close up detail is awesome. :)
So gated communities are nothing new . . .
Great start on this.
I like the start so far. It will be another masterpiece - I'm sure :)
I've seen that kind of pentagonal arrangement for fortresses before, but not
for a village, very interesting.
This looks great. Looking forward to the next steps.
I live not very far from here: Neuf-Brisach, Alsace, France.
It is a city / fortress build around the year 1700 by Vauban.
There are actually quite a few of these city fortresses in France.

Wow, that's simply gorgeous. I had never seen this before, and I don't know why, it looks like it should be very popular.
Nice scene.
Thanks for digging these up Klaus. Looks very familiar indeed. Apparently a common defence logic. Nice model too!
Oh, that looks lovely. Are those red colors final? They do fit nicely.

Unusual problems require unusual measures :)

So there's a lot of research on your part too in these kind of illustrations; and not all the information is delivered ready-to-use. That seems to me time consuming, but of course it can also be intriguing.
Yes, indeed. Not all clients are very clear in their references, and plans. So the reconstructions usually take up considerably more time than eventually paid for. Luckily I know quite a lot in the years doing this, and it's great work (and good to see stuff in print!), so I don't complain.
Another one in this series. Needs some more detail in some areas, as it's to be rendered at 8640 x 3840px. And some changes. Any comments or critics are welcome of course!
Lovely renders! I'll need much time to visit every part and recognize every detail!
If you anyway have planned more details, I'll wait with any suggestion for the next versions :)
Awesome! I'll wait for the details as well.
That's too easy :P

...ok :) one thing I saw was what I assume that you anyway want to refine the creeks and canals... I am missing some rotten shrubs, grass, reeds and other riparian plants there. Some of them look a bit bare.
Probably a dumb question and I'm just not seeing the answer, but how was a person supposed to cross the moat to get to the central area? By Boat? or perhaps there's a footbridge I'm not seeing?
Indeed, that was something I need to do, add some more small veggies along ditches, reeds, etc. I also heard the fields along the stream are too brownish, needs to be greener, fresher.
And masonspappy; there's a second bridge behind this entrance building, with a wooded lane behind it to the main 'road'. So, no boat needed ;)
Nice progress Ulco.
