For some odd reason, likely my slackness and it's memory use, I've never played with the Alpine shader. Here's my first stab at it. C&C most welcome. project included for the curious.
I tend to think of alpine trees more as Fir trees, but I like the mountain.

I hear ya but I wanted desolate more than strictly Alpine and have a dir of bare trees and bushes...guess I could strip the needles off the grande fir or any of a number I have...
That actually works, rendering a 920x517 test atm
Changed out the bare trees for some bare fir trees which suit the image''s mood well, added a path to the stone with a pool in it and a couple of dudes.
Quite surrealistic again, with an almost Margritte-like mood. An upturned huge umbrella (or hat, or anythin strange) above all would really feed that Margritte idea.

Odd what comes from experimenting with new stuff...got a render cooking of the view from the fakestone pool heh heh. you'll see
Here it is Ulco, no idea how I dimpled just some fakestones...
Nice. That's 'just' an artifact stone, but a lucky error.

For once an artifact worked in my favour!
