Title: Banded, wispy, disorted clouds clip file
Post by: FrankB on June 21, 2007, 07:01:40 AM
Hi,

here's the setup for the image I posted in this thread: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=1619.0

I have slightly changed the seeds in the fractal, so the clouds will look different, but it's still the original setup. You'll get the idea. Make sure you post your attempts, so we can see what other nice skies you'll be able to make from that concept.

Regards,
Frank

Thanks Frank.

Interesting indeed. I'll have to try some of the scaling settings in my existing clouds first to get a base for comparison but it looks really useful after just a quick play.

So not to ask a stupid question, but how do I go about using a .tgc?

That's not stupid question at all. Open the File menu, and choose "insert clip file". Navigate to the file location on your hard drive and select it. Done.

Just a little update, as I ran into an issue that might have been discussed while my absence.

When looking at the attached picture you might notice some interrupted lighting in the sky. One on the left hand side and two starting on the right hand side. These were the triangulared render parts of TG2TP. Enviro and GI were turned off. I have seen that befor but thought that it was due to multiple suns I used ... but this render had only one sun.
The same thing happened without that tree, too.

Volker Harun

That's a known bug and will go away with one of the next releases.

Nice image, by the way :-)

Allright got it ... it is that acceleration-cache thingy again  ;D
I thought that a terragen master would supply us with some correct settings in his clips  ;D ;D ;D ;)

Where's Frank gone, he's great?

For that matter where did old_blaggard go? He was always around here a few years ago not just on here but also on Ashundar, then 4 years ago or whatever he vanished.

Well BigBen seems to come and go about. Sometimes quite long in-between. However Ob was really very active for a long period of time on multiple sites and then seemed to disappear overnight. Maybe Oshyan knows what happend as I think he knew him from Ashundar.

I last talked to Paul almost 3 years ago, shortly before the TG3 release. He was doing post-college internship-type stuff for a while I think, but by then he was working at a startup on some iPhone app(s). I don't know what he's been doing since. I'd love to see him around again...

Maybe he'll get the Terragen itch and come back one day.

I started off on Ashundar, or Terragen.org as it's now known. The two names I remember were OB and a Java Jones  ::)
