He was just about to fall asleep, drifting, drifting.....Then a slight bend at the tip of the rod told him....get ready!
Good one, give great context having the back story...well done.
Works well, but looks something two-dimensional my friend :)

He, he,....you got it my friend!
Yes, adding lilypads and new sun position....so you can see he is fishing in a camouflage duck boat....hehe ;D
For the life of me, cannot figure why even in daytime lighting sun has to be just right to not cast such darkness....
Oh, yes, a secret agent in his fishing Mission ;)
Have a nice day my friend!

Global Illumination in the Lighting TAB...I always tweak that... That and Soft Shadows give lighter shadows...

PF on boat body, my boat made in blender, I have to round out those oars...hmmmm
lilypads, probably from Ashunder free stuff eons ago.
I increased environmental light and lowered the specular on Phillipe. I will adjust this again now as it is too bright with new sun position.
Coming along though I don't care for the boats texture. I think it might be better image mapped with a plank texture and then altered with a PF a bit.
If they were from Ashunder and .tgo they were approved conversions from the linked site. Drew Costigan gave me permission to reshare as .tgo. There a lot more as IIRC .3ds at the link and some other handy models as well.
