this render is not finished yet but i wanted to show the first try of it ;)
Ahhh..finally you're back on track posting images :)
I like the atmosphere in this one. The idea of big rocks on the hills is good but I think they could use some more work.
Also, the bark on the trees looks a bit dull.
Clouds and lighting are fine :)
How do you like your new quaddie? :D
Martin
the quad core is just wiiild dude !
it works like a clockwork ;)
Nice, Seth. TU hit it all on the head.
I like the stones... the shapes and texture.
Water looks good as well, and the lighting is realistic.
I like it!
I like this alot. The stones look great to me, as well as the lighting and populations.
I like it too. Very natural lighting. The fog is perfect.
i won't touch the stone, i like them this way too ^^
i'll see what i can do about the bark ;)
i want just a little more light...
ah and there is no "fog"... only big fat atmo ;)
not finished but someplaying around...
Ohhh, I really like this one, the atmo is perfect, even more realistic!
thank you ^^
Perfect, Seth. Did you use PhotoMatix with EXR?
nope, i used Paint.Net
Seth, this is great!
Something else: I believe we'got used to less dynamic lighting in renders, although in reality, in photographs and with our own eyes, the parts of the terrain which are not in shadow should be even brighter. I suggest you try to lighten up these part, just as a try...
Cheers,
Frank
@Seth - Cool! I love Paint.NET
@Frank - Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean, but this looks perfectly done to me. Not like reality exactly, but more towards a very nice photograph. Is that what you mean, Frank?
Great improvements! :D Did you change the POV as well?
like this FrankB ?
yes, very good!
^^
Beautiful! Nothing here that I don't like. Any chance you would be willing to share your atmosphere node? I have no problem with dramatic lighting, but subtle reality seems to elude me.
I love the mood and lighting in this monotoned scene. Excellent work.
btw: I can't find the "Big Fat Atmosphere" button anywhere on my Atmosphere interface :-) (care to share the recipe?)
John
The way the atmosphere gets rapidly denser over distance is very appealing indeed :)

I actually like your first render more than the second for its softness and lighting. When heavy fog is present, you can do away with sharpness ...great work!
Nice work. Different versions all have their own strengths. The only thing that seems not quite right to me is the general distribution of the stones. It looks like this landscape has suffered some huge upheaval to have big stones all over like that and as if there has been no erosion or deposition yet but the trees look like they have been there a long time. My opinion is that if you slope controlled some distribution of those stones it would be a dramatic improvement.
Good realism in the scene and lighting, but I have to agree with a previous poster about the large boulders there are just too many crowded across the foreground. It also seeems that some of the bigger rocks have rather odd/unatural planes and angles to them. Some additional variety of ground covering (perhaps sand?) towards part of the water area might be handy to give one relief from that very lengthy field of large rocks. This image is very good, but I belive it can get even better with further development.
hehehe matter of taste...
I totally disagree with the 2 above statements and I erased my distribution shaders to have boulders everywhere :)
Great mood. Outstanding athmosphere. I like both images, but I'd really love to see it WITH your distribution shader for the fake stones shader. Pleeeeeaase!!!
I didn' even saved the render...
I'll see what i can do next time ;)
I like the effects applied to the second one! Only thing I would change is the Title, perhaps call it "A Rock Concert" Featuring "The Rolling Stones" I think I see Keith Richards? The old wrinkled face one near the front. ;) ;D :P
;D ;D ;D
Think there's to much rock seth but non the less your works always fantastic!!
I am overwhelmed by these renders ... they are very inspiring ...
That's a very beautiful piece of work!
As for the rocks looking like they have strange angles or are badly distributed, go take a look at some photos of Jasper national Park in Alberta. This scene could have been a photo of places I have been there!
