Just messing around :)
I like the second one especially.
I like the second one best also.
Nice ones, indeed second one is the best. Now with some smooth reflection it would be really cool.
No. 2 looks awesome, add some wind patch effect on the water, make it less noisy,
It'll be a winner!
Lovely stuff!
:)
Thanks all!
That pretty render took almost 4 hours, not bad with water too.
I think I had the voxel count at 80-90 range.
TG4.1.1 free (or the latest update)
One cloud layer.
This is just a painterly look at it. I will probably smooth out the water and render over with some adjustments.
So, for whatever personal reasons, I really like # 2 (of the first two images you posted).
Very nice!
I'd re do # 2 but turn off the water's reflectivity and add a Reflective shader after the water with Reflection softness at 0.0001-3, that range gives good effect with hardly any rendering hit...
Thanks masonspappy and bobby!
Will redo with new settings, but tried another one in the mean time.
I do not like how the haze clings to cloud edges....will work on this...
I like the way the clouds light up yellowish. It's almost a romantic painter's sky. Nice thick forest would be great under it, and a stream.

Agree, replace the lake with a forest with a stream running through it and you've got a winner.
Okay, I did it. Now 16Gig. As soon as I can transfer object and about a million tgd files.....
2 cloud layers and Walli's pine population. 29 minute render as opposed to 6-12 hours. Waiting for lic file to go BIG.

Woo Hoo
Good job luvs. I like the second image (in your first post) and the last one (overall in the thread) best. :D Really nice shapes you got there.
The "silver lining" picture could be less grainy though. Increasing atmo samples could do.
Some more clouds micro 0.8 AA 8
Gamma 1.8 but still a little strong sunlight?
Great work.

Yup those are indeed
some clouds and re: the Gamma comment, you could try as Matt suggested to me, to play around with
the exposure. The slider on the left of the preview window affects the camera and gives real time feed back.
Thanks guys! Seems it is forever experiment....
Another go at that thunderhead...forgot to up my atmo settings.... >:(
Like that last image. Storm's a'commin'....

Haha...about 5 hours. I leave these biggies to render overnight. I am ever trying stuff as you know. This was detail at 0.8 and AA 6 with a little ambient light and atmo at 3.

Looks like a very smoggy world! Have you played with Reduce Noise in photoshop? It can help a lot with cloud scenes. Smart sharpen after a reduce noise can help make it pop.
And by the way, Adobe Photoshop CS2 (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK) is free now. I read somewhere It was actually a mistake on their part with licensing and support, and they had to release it free, dunno if it's true but might happy it's free.
You see, I have the tools to do this out of TG, but I was TRYING to maybe do too much by learning how to warp a cloud.
or this
As promised, Blender shockwave, AVI format Going to see if I can grab an object from this. :)

Well that's just nice to look at. Cool effect in the clouds, really like it.

Here is another stretch of the density shader :) :) PF also plugged into depth modulator
masked the depth modulator with another PF :)

Are you using v3 or v2 clouds? I notice when v3 clouds start getting too hazy and mixing, render time spikes, in once instance almost 100 fold. Light calculation that took a minute took over an hour.

Clouds are v3. I do not get it either (varying settings and render times) These all have low density and no voxel setting changes
I have another image that without clouds, 10 objects and 5 populations and renders in 25 minutes without clouds. When I added ONE cloud layer back in, 11 hour render!!! but micro poly detail 0.8 and AA6 on both.

I don't really know why this is happening, but I'd like to understand it better. The next time this happens, try reducing the number of voxels to only 1 million, and see if this helps.
If you have a project you can send to us, please do. We might be able to figure out where the problem is (either in the scene setup or in Terragen itself).

Thanks Matt! I will check the voxels, sometimes I do set them at 95.... :)
:o That might do it. I'll disregard what you said earlier "These all have low density and no voxel setting changes" ;)
It's less likely to be an an issue if you have tons of RAM, but I'll know more if I can test an actual project.

Oh sorry, I wasn't clear. The clouds with lights are all rendering great!Really fast.
This image (last of the series) was the high voxel count I have lowered it to re render. It took six hours just to get to the tree tops....

Oh, I misunderstood, sorry about that!
