Title: miniature city
Post by: Aerometrex on January 26, 2015, 06:02:27 PM
I had a play with the depth of field to simulate how a miniature city would look like. It almost looks like a 3D printed model.

very cool. Also would like to know how detailed this is at ground level.

At ground level it is not good due to the fact that the photographs used to generate the 3D models are acquired fro the air at around 45 degrees angle which means that under eaves and verandah there is no information and the mesh is interpolated. The pixel resolution is around 5cm which also limit the amount of details that can be extracted and make the texture from ground-level not good enough.

Great. It's a super method for more distant work, or fast moving film clips.
