Please hear my plea! ;D
Since I had the opportunity to see Avatar in 3d I'm addicted to stereo images. At home I like the crosseyed method of watching.
Btw, for those who are interested, here's a lot of Avatar images in 3d:

I made some TG images in stereo, but it's so hard to place the second camera. I'd love to have a grouping function (for objects, cameras and lights!) to avoid the (painful! Care for my butt!) repositioning of the second camera by hand when I want to try other POVs.
What do you think?
Yes please :)
There's a ton of uses for grouping, its been asked for before and PS have said it will be implemented in the future, at some point :0

Yes, I know it has been asked before, but I thought constant dripping wears the stone!! ;D
My mother used too warn me about crossing my eyes. I should have listened. ;D
Too late!
I'll pipe in here again, too. A 'group objects' function will be the cherry on top of TG2. Nodes can be grouped, why not objects? All grouped objects could then be moved by an encompassing bounding box, that is centred on the group.
I could then use my metacloud model with a lot more ease.(not to mention the countless other uses for grouping certain features and moving them as one.
I think there may be a hierarchical object thingy in the pipeline. It has to do with the animation package. I'm just speculating. At work I look for trends and patterns of individuals behaviors; it helps me know when to intervene. Oshyan and Jo have been circling around this in some of their posts.
Every object has a .chan input that will load co-ordinates, it would be good if you could also plug in a transform shader, that the same translations could be applied to multiple objects, effectively creating a group.
:)

More than seven years have passed, and I still would love to have a grouping function. At the moment I have a scene with more than 160 lightsources attached to objects. Now I found that one of the objects has to be rotated by 180°. This is so annoying. Grouping seems to be a very basic thing, so I'm missing it badly. Imagine I could group an object together with some lights and could move AND scale it, and the lights would still be in place.
Hannes, yes years have passed by since we first discussed this. With the increased capabilities of TG (and our hardware) it has only become more urgent. I cannot imagine the nightmare your projects must be with so many pieces needing to be managed. While I do like the network view, I still want to be able to group components (especially objects) via the interface and be able to assign common parameters to the group.
Sigh....drip drip drip......
I'm with Hanna's on this one. While I'm sure I don't have the requirements depth and sophistication such as his, I've had a few projects where being able to group objects together and then move them using a single set of parameters Would have been invaluable.
Yes please :P
While I know this has been a long-time coming, this is definitely something we are planning to address in the reasonably near future.
