Description:

Generic tubular steel 6m lighting column fitted with GEC Top Hat lantern (Subsequently identified as model Z5670*), typical of the 1960s and 70s. This is an accurate while un-detailed model, all measurements were taken from real examples however the access door in the base of the column and the hinge and closing latch on the lantern have been omitted.

The lantern should be fitted with a ridged clear plastic Glass; in the absence of transparency this has been replaced with an incorrect translucent white plastic lens.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two versions of the model are included.

Steel_Lighting_Column.tgo

Single piece; suitable for daytime use or with a small modification to the materials, night time (Illuminated), where light and or shadow casting is not required.

Steel_Lighting_Column_Main.tgo
Steel_Lighting_Column_Glass.tgo

This two part version allows for a light source to be placed within the lantern. The main object contains the column and opaque components of the lantern, this can and should be allowed to cast shadows. The second Glass part contains just that, the plastic Glass lens, which should have shadow casting disabled to allow light out of the lantern.

An example .tgd showing the positioning of these components along with a light source is included.

Light Source:

The light source included simulates a 70w high pressure sodium (SON), lamp, this suited the scene for which these columns were created but has subsequently been found to be inappropriate for the GEC lantern used. If lamp authenticity is needed it should be a simple matter to change the colour of the light source to simulate either tungsten (GLS), mercury (MBFu), or low pressure sodium (SOX), lamps.
