nice idea, wouldn't it work if you could fade the opacity of any apps window?

I don't know the technical side , but all 3D software should have this.
But i think this is not one of the top priority things mostly  :)

You cannot model an existing thing (organic or mechanical) without reference images (often many of them). If a 3D app today does not have this functionality, throw it into a bucket immediately! B.t.w., with Blender 2.5 you can have as many reference images as you want.

Kind of cool. I don't think most pro modelers will use it. During the modeling process you are constantly zooming and panning and if you use this app you have to hit F1 and readjust to fit your current model view. This would not be a time saver. In most modeling programs the background reference image pans and zooms with the view so the image is always lined up.
