Title: Herkimer
Post by: Henry Blewer on June 13, 2010, 08:32:20 AM
Ok, it's not quite like Herkimer County NY. It's a nice render, if I do say so myself. I may do another render of this tgd sometime. The clouds need to be re-worked.
I used Marc and Walli's plants. Their objects really help my renders look better than they are without them.

This one must really suck. :P

for sure not ;-)

I think the lighting feels a bit cold and harsh. Probably would help to slightly brighten up the dark areas. Could be done in post, if you have saved as exr.

best,
Walli

I did save this in EXR. Blender is the only program I have which will handle EXR. It's not easy to work with Blender's post composite nodes, but I have used worse...

I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the input Walli. I was beginning to think I had ticked off people again. :D

there“s a cheap Phtoshop clone out there, I think its from canada. Was it Artizan? It handles floating point.

Will GIMP handle EXR? I need to install it....

no, not really. Gimp started to go into the floating point direction and some under the hood work is done in floating point (or was it just 16bit?) - but in general its still just a 8bit app. And thats the main reason for me not to use Gimp, otherwise I would heavily use it.

I have Corel Paint X2. I also saved this as a bitmap and tiff. I'll play with it tomorrow.
