Hi, what do you think of the following sky? (disregard the terrain please, it's just a filler).
The image rendered really fast at that size (1600 x 914) and quality. 30 minutes and I was done, although it has three cloud layers and 48 atmo samples - thanks to "ray trace everything" and the right settings ;)
Regards,
Frank
I think it looks very convincing, especially towards the horizon. Look forward to seeing more...
another version with a little bit of bluesky
21 minutes now, after further tuning.
These look awesome. There's a forboding feel to these clouds, as if heavy weather is lurking beneath the horizon. Some insight (or a tgc) would be great. By the way; you said RTA, the land came out really well RayTraced then.
regards,
Dune
thanks :)
I agree the land is not too bad, but mostly because it has no small scale features, such as sharp edges on overhangs, or fake stones etc, which the ray tracer can't cope so well with yet.
I will make the tgd available as a free download on the NWDA Community Store, if there is a general interest in it.
Regards,
Frank
That'll be great, Frank. Thanks. Just back from 2 weeks Sweden, I have to catch up on all topics, and also change parts of the Garden of Eternity, so plenty to do.
ok, last one, evening setting
Very nice. I would even switch off the lower cumulus. And a free tgd? Yes please!
You have captured the Binghamton Sky quite well.
thanks! The super cloudy skies are not necessarily beauties in themselves, but what strikes me about this technique is that the result seems quite realistic to me. Don't know if you would agree, but I think I've discovered something new here (for me).
As for the lower clouds: without them the sky would be less interesting and less 3 dimensional. It's good to have a second layer providing more sense of depth.
Regards,
Frank
ok, this is now available in the Community Store http://store.nwdanet.com/terragen2store/6-terragen-2-presets/7-atmosphere-a-clouds.html
Have fun!
Frank
I downloaded a copy. I could not resist. :)
super sky shot, gonna dl this and dissect it...cheers Frank!
Thank you, Frank
I downed one too, Frank. See what's your secret here. Thanks.

Many thanks Frank...off to explore the sky now.. ...
I like the wide camera angle and the ratio of land to sky...
Killer stuff Frank
