Title: StarBirth and Hairy World
Post by: Dune on June 22, 2010, 01:49:16 PM
Seth's topic about his Small World inspired me to do some interstellar experimentation myself. Never done it, so it took some figuring, but here's 2 results. Some interesting cloud formations in a non-visible extra planet made me think of the birth of a star. The other one I grew some 3D grass on; a bit too big, but otherwise you wouldn't see it.

Enjoy this temporary sidekick.

And the Hairy one.

I like the cloud layer around the sun in the first. It would be interesting to use a voronoi noise for the object mapping on the second image; give it a mold growth...

the clouds on the first render are a good idea... i think you could do something cool of it ^^

Hi Dune,
nice experiments.
In case you haven't seen this already http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=2648.0

Thanks, J. Never seen that, it was before I started playing with TG2. But some cool things got figured out. My clouds here are not high up (e+...), but 2 simple warped cloud layers of a small extra planet that was not rendered. Plus a light source inside.
But I won't be pursuing this, keep my feet on the ground (relatively speaking).
