Title: another simple question
Post by: Dune on June 26, 2010, 03:51:23 AM
Are objects in a population angled at 90 degrees onto a flat plane, or towards the center of the planet? I guess it'll be the first, but if it would be the second you could have a small planet where objects stand up at the equator and south pole as well just the north pole.

I was afraid I might have. A pity, it would open up possibilities, such as using a small extra planet 'merged' into the big one with populations that would 'fall' or easily grow on overhangs. Such things.

It would be cool to have null objects that could be used for centers to calculate child objects with radical orientations and positions.

On a similar subject is there a metre value for the diameter of the default planet?

The radius of the default planet in metres is: 6378000m(6.378e+006). Double that and you have your diameter so, 12756000m diameter.

EDITED: Here's a Google Gadgets calculator page: http://googlegadgets.neoteksystems.com/Java/Calc/Calculator.html
If you're stuck on Terragen numbers, just copy the value straight from TG2 and paste it into the calculator, press = and you'll get the numerical value.
