A sight you might see while visiting Sedona, Arizona. A place where the air is fresh and you're away from the big city.
• Fractal terrain by me using the flatten low areas clip file by Hetzen; and, the strata variation file by FrankB - both available at the Planetside forum.
• Pine tree models by Walli, available at the Planetside forum. These were positioned as single objects.
• Two populations of lightnings 3 Bushes are used changing the color on one of them. These were positioned using the Painted shader. These may be available at the Planetside forum.
• Grass model by klas was used and positioned using the Distribution shader. The model is available at the Planetside forum.
In all, this was an enjoyable project. Render time was three hours, thirty-two minutes. The Mitchell-Netravali filter was used for rendering. I'll post the .tgd file in the File Sharing if you are interested in using it for your projects. Tip: You can adjust the altitude setting of the Gravel Surface shader to suit your own taste. Enjoy.
Bob
Hey Bob, you're doing a sterling job at observing desert terrains. Your ground textures are really detailed and interesting and applied with a deilicate manner. Good stuff.
Oh, btw thanks for the mention, but you should have a look at Goms flatten terrain function in....

It does a better job imo.

Thanks Hetzen for the tip and link.
Hi Bob, that's a nice terrain, (thanks for sharing!) and the scene shows your typical care in composition. I hope you don't mind, but I felt like playing a little in postwork.

Not at all; lighting plays a key factor in making this (or any other) image look different. Glad you enjoyed the file.
Very nice, Bob. You always seem to get your lighting just right.
Thanks for the share.
Well done. I like to try to do local landscapes for the southern tier of New York State (Binghamton area). It's what I know best. Your SW landscapes reflect this for your region well.
No offence, I just love the postworked image :D
