Today I vanish for a few days, to enjoy the Wickerman Festival (http://www.thewickermanfestival.co.uk).
Should be a fun time, not many bands there that I'm really interested in but, hey, anything sounds good to me after one-or-ten cold-ones! :D
There's tons of kids activities and traditional banter to be had, let the festivities begin! After the 5 hour bus-ride with three complaining children... :-\
Enjoy your weekend, all, I will! 8) :-*
Looks great :)
Have an astonishing time :)
Richard
have fun, whatever the weather!
Even if ther weather is crap, which it probably will be this weekend. Take a camera. The clouds in the UK are magnificent at the moment.
If the kids moan, you'll always have Ray Mears and Bear Grylls stories to fall back on, whilst you try and heat up that tin of beans and sausages on a fire of belly button lint from a spark off the ol' flint 'n steel...
;D
All the best chap.
Britt Ekland still headlining that one!
Yes - look out for people in animal masks!
Have fun!!!
(I don't know anyone on the line-up. What does this say about me?) ;)
Cheers, everyone. I'm broken. :D
I got loads of photos, obviously. Here's one of me and the kids at the foot of the bugger:

*EDIT: The one in pink hair has a stolen piece of his foot. Thief!

And here is a shot that shows the scale of the guy very well.

Who made it ? Do you know DandelO ? It looks good !

These two guys make it every year, Kadri... http://www.leatrigg.co.uk/
Look at the craftsmanship!

I'll make a page of my own and pop up the best images from the festival, these are just some shots of Mr Burns.
So, aye. The music was OK, the food and drink was ridiculously overpriced and under-portioned, the weather was very nice, until Saturday, which was wet all day but, beautifully dry and foggy at night for the burning.
A great time, kids loved going to the rock shows, the eldest(11) charging through crowds towards the stage fronts! Wooooo!
We've a year to recover, both physically and financially! :D
Thanks , DandelO :)
anybody got a match or lighter? :D :D ;D
sorry, i couldn't help myself... the pyromanic in me is coming out..
We got most of the burning, and the fireworks display on video. Some photos as well.
Lots more photos on my FB page, for those who can see it.
A mate of mine is going to DJ at burning man. Apparently no money changes hand there so what would you pay for a pint of heavy there dandelO?!
Well, we smuggled our own drinks into the arena, it's allowed in the camp site but not the main arena, where you are expected to buy from the drinks tent, a pint was about £3.50, I think.
The shrewd approach was contraband. ;)
great video D, 'whats that, the shit van?'...lol
did the kids smuggle the liquid refreshments in?!!
looks like you had a really good time, is it on next year?
we have friends in scotland, and it's not far on the ferry/seacat from belfast...
cheers
J
Aye, it's on next year. This was its 9th year. Next year, I'd imagine, they pull out all the stops for the 10th anniversary.
prices for the main event are really great, though. We were only 95 quid each per adult and kids go free, for the whole weekend, Thursday to Sunday. Considering the price of a single ticket to any of the more commercial festivals, that's really good.
T-In-The-Park would have been well out of our reach money wise. Here, though, there was just so much happening, outdoor ice skating(on the hottest day of the year), wood workshops, dirt boarding/sledging, mountain biking, laser quest zap zone, tightrope walking, too much to remember, plus the constant live music. Really great. I'd much rather do that in the Summer holidays than go to Alton Towers or some place like that, where you'd also, no doubt, spend as much money in a single day.
Do it! Maybe, we could all get laptops and make a Render Tent... Hmmm, maybe not! :D
