Post by: riche on July 28, 2010, 01:40:17 PM
Something I've been working on at work, whilst fixing PC's and servers, please feel free to critic it, as it needs more work

Full size image is available in my gallery here http://www.sellostring.com/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=58

thanks in advance

Nice image. I think the only thing I might change is make the bush populations a bit more sparse, and perhaps shrink the bushes a little bit to up the sense of scale.

I've reduced the bush scale and put in some small rocks, and abit of outcropping, increased the cloud by stretching the height, and done some quick post work, by blurring out the the distance.

I like this point of view. I would suggest using the painted shader and try clumping the vegetation in different areas. Also, try using different texture/color files to give the plants some color variance. Maybe two or more populations done this way would look good.

I think there are some funny things about this image, that don't make it very realistic. If realism is your intention. To mention: the blurry distance, the fat low clouds, and the 'huge' plants.

To me this landscape gives a sense of great scale, and as such the landscape (soils) is great, but try it with softer, more transparent (perhaps more distant) clouds, no blur in the distance and reduce the plants 1/10 and clump them as choronr suggested. I would more likely put a farmstead, ruin, dead tree or another grand object somewhere in front, to reference the scale. And not make it too big.
