Title: Playing with terrain of planets
Post by: jbest on August 17, 2010, 02:26:32 AM
Just playing with the terrain of the planets. Rather rocky, I'd say. Took 16 minutes to render on a 2.5 GHz computer (at .87 quality, 3 AA). Comments perfectly welcome (and appreciated).

The far planet looks a bit more varied in its displacements. Are they the same set-up?

Nope, the far planet has more rugged terrain than the near planet. The near planet has less lead-in octaves and a higher feature scale. The far planet has more displacement amplitude.

I know it is a common question, but is there some .tgd file that has stars, or do you make them in Photoshop, or is there a function for it? Stars, I think, would look good in here.

Well, here's some stars and a little different terrain!

Got the stars at this link: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=444.0 (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=444.0)

However, for some reason I can't get them too bright ... any suggestions? (Luminosity is at highest...)
