Title: Can you export Terragen to Vue Inifinite?
Post by: cathalob on March 16, 2007, 06:25:24 AM
I am interested to know if there is a link or export that will allow you to create terrain in Terragen and export to Max or Vue Infinite 5

Thanks for any information

I dont think its possible at this stage and I personally would like to stick to TG2 rather than vue 6

I think that TG2 has a better render engine than Vue does, so unless there is a specific Vue feature that you need, I wouldn't worry about exporting to it.

in vue there seems to be more plants and trees available from what i can see, that would be the only reason for exporting in to it

I'm guessing that you can convert most of those trees and stuff for use in TG2.  I would try that before trying to export TG2 terrains.

Terragen 2 does have a LWO exporter so you can import that geometry into Vue. Also you can import a terrain heightfield from Terragen 2 into World Machine and or GeoControl and save out as a 16bit grey scale map and import that map into Vue's function node while in the terrain editor. If you have access to GeoControl there are options to save as a 16bit .tga, and a .obj format.

Terragen 2 has a convert procedural terrain to heightfield terrain node i believe?     ???

I am a Vue user myself as well and the only reason why is 2 really, speed and spherical panorama rendering otherwise i would go back to Terragen 2 right now but i will wait for now.          :-[
