Title: Stormy atmosphere WIP -update-
Post by: freelancah on September 26, 2010, 07:27:36 AM
Figured I'd post this here before I start doing any postwork...All elements made procedurally and some were just limited to certain places with distance shader+cameras

Finished postworked piece:

Nice and interesting image , Freelancah  :)
If you make the Sun a little more like TheBlackHole did on this post http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=10822.0 as you know, it would look maybe better as it is !

I'd have to agree with everyone else. The clouds look amazing! I'd recommend you try something like my Sun Glow Effect (in File Sharing) instead of using a Photoshopped lens flare in post.

Totally agree with Blackhole.
And to underline it .... beware of the lens flare :) ;)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. And yeah I agree, the photoshop lensflare sucks. Thats why I havent used it in years ^^ I'm currently rendering a moon and will later do the sun manually. The resolution that I'm rendering the final image is too large to have any extra stuff & the kind of sun I'm going for needs postwork even if I'd use TBH's clipfile.

those clouds look really cool, good work :)

i use lightwave 3D's lens flare effect - it's much better.

Small update. Rendered the moon out and changed the composition..might change it again..will see where this goes.

Ideas and thoughts are welcome..

Okay, I totally disagree with Naoo ... I like the first one more :D ;D
Good starfield and the moon texture ... strange but mind driving.

In my opinion, the planet and its atmosphere turned to be rather a frame for the upper part of the image ... what is not bad, I like it.
In fact I have no ideas to improve the (upper) image :)

Great!
Are those lightningbolts in a wider sense "handpainted"?
Either way, the effect is beautiful!
Best regards,
Jan

As I said on deviantart, excellent work! The clouds very accurately give a sense of a tremendous amount of energy and the lightning only serves to enhance this presentation!
