Title: Using different sizes of fake stones
Post by: catman49 on October 07, 2010, 08:47:17 AM
Hello !

(sorry for my english, i'm french)
A simple question from a beginner :

I use two layers for fake stones of different sizes (one for big, one for small), but the small stones appear on the big stones too (over).
How is it possible to get small stones around the biggest stones only ?

However i succeed using a distribution shader blending (altitude or slope) with the small stones layer but it's not easy to control on a rough fractal terrain. Is there another method ?

Nodes :

Base colours
Fake stones 1 (big)
Fake stones 2 (small)
   Distribution shader

Thank you for your help.

Try puting the small stones above the big stones.

Theres quite a few threads on this, search for fake stones and you'll find them.
As a start however try using a "merge shader" set to "highest Raise", that should give you a good start :)

I just start with the smallest size first. The large stones get added next. The merge method works well also. I seldom remember to use this; merge is a powerful shader.
