Without his knowledge I doubt most of us (any of us) would be doing what we love to do so much.

IBM did not know what to do with his math studies. He invented a whole substructure of applied mathematics.

Sad news indeed. May he rest in peace..

He was certainly an interesting person to listen to. Here's a quite new video of his talk in TED.
