really cool scene!
very photorealistic. :)
the most realistic CG if seen so far. amazing!
Wow, what was it made on?
There is something about the way Vray handles light that I just love. *sigh*
To be sure this is an outstanding example of modeling and texturing work, and there's lots of detail put in there. But really with an "average" renderer, the results would look technically good, but not necessarily make you go "wow". It's the subtle lighting and color handling that "sell" the image IMHO, and that comes down partly to skill in lighting the scene on the artist's part, and partly to the qualities of the GI system in Vray. You see pretty consistently high quality results out of Vray (and generally out of Maxwell and many "unbiased" renderers too), but that's less true of other renderers that don't go the "unbiased" route. Certainly something like MentalRay is capable of similar results, but I can't help thinking that the reason we see this level of work less often from a renderer like that is that it's at the least harder to achieve.

Click the CGSociety link and it shows what program(s) it was made in.
Speaking of photo-realistic, here's another image that made the front page - http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=927166
amaziiiiing !!!!
Yep, Vray has "something".
I often thought about betting some nice 3D software package, like 3ds, Vray and some other stuff...
But still, TG2 kicks ass imho. yet there are some things to resolve in future updates, but when it comes to landscapes... :D
edit: also, as someone might have noticed, i never (ever!) get to finish a picture. if a problem i had found its solution and the rest is just "work", i lose any concern and think about the next problem. :/
i would never have the patience to build something like this!
Gosh, that's pretty awesome stuff! I sure would feel sick if I tried to duplicate that.
Edit: I thought the flash version was the best version - perfect.
Ok, great, but I like the train render even more. Here's an alternate daytime version that Marcel posted:

Bloody 350 objects in that scene! How the heck can a regular machine handle that?

Yes, I've noticed a little - it's a real shame, as your stuff is always interesting. But each to his own!
a little fly through, if you didn't already check!

Exactly! I'm in that very same boat! :D
Great renders, truly classy, indeed!
