another spooky/eerie forest scene, a narrow tree lined corridor.
comments/critiques welcome.
I feel like Little Red Riding Hood with this one. Or maybe a Hobbit taking a tour with dwarves.
higher resolution, higher AA
needs some pine straw, another grass type, and some changes with the painted shader masks.
njeneb, the title is this render is a unrelated reference to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_Old_Way
(i just happen to like the name.)
added 3 more populations, a 2nd mushroom type, some wild grass, the Amphora Luminis plant.
there appears to be a problem with the displacements of the painted shader and the pine needle population, they appear to be placed half-way under the terrain.
day version. i need to tune up the masks some
comments welcome
Looking good. I would like to see a daylight version where the sun would be at about 45 degrees and facing the viewer. Add, perhaps adding a low cloud simulating a haze.
i'll probably do something like that bob, but first i want to perfect the populations/objects first.
3rd version :)
yeah, i tend to try and stay away from the edge of the forest, too much sunlight.

day version.
Day. Yeah. Bright as always ;D
Each post looks better and better; especially this last one ...good work.
theres not much changes in this version, its just bigger. :)
Object used:
Grass (2 types) - Walli
Pine trees - Walli
Mushrooms (2 types) - Orge
Bushes (2 types) - Mr LampPost
Amphora Luminis Plant - Walli
rendering time is around 22hours
comments welcome
I kinda like the first version. Made me think of hobbits going through a dark and eerie forest. The last version is a lot 'happier', but you are the artist so I don't know what you are going for. Either way nice details and work.
I like the 'what's in there?' feeling.
heres how dark it looks without the light sources (3)
RTS was turned on also
Accidently bumped into a trick a few weeks ago. Do a render with surfaces OFF in the render tab. This gives you a render with no objects but with all their shadows and occultations (stuff that gets hidden) fully rendered. Its another layer to play with in comp :)

very interesting richard, i'll have to try that soon, i just added a cloud/fog layer, i'm perfecting right now.
now with some groundfog
comments welcome.
now trying it with Surfaces off :)
It looks like a set for a music video in the 80's. I would have the for more wispy and continuing into the tree tops.
