I am not too happy with this one. I am going to start over...

goddamn light Oo
I think that is the most cryptic comment I have had... Is it too bright?
I used Microsofts color calibration to adjust my monitor. Everything looks great, but compared to other monitors I have no clue...
looks more like a river!, or the lower section of creek before it reaches a river.

hehehe... make it dark, excellent. (evil grin) :)
just kidding :D
Actually, Henry, this is one of your best. I like it's composition, the rainy sky, the POV. I would only smooth the rocks a bit, make them a little darker and wet along the river. And perhaps get rid of the too wavy strata. Perhaps some more low vegetation, and a smoother river. Sometimes these wide rivers are very smooth flowing, and it would calm it's reflections.
I really like the POV. But the rest is yuck, except the clouds. The clouds are not quite what I had in mind, but they looked good in the preview, low res renders.
I was going to make the shore look wet, but I did not want to do a large, full render with the wavy strata. I used a power fractal to produce the strata, not the strata and displacement shader.
The stones... Worked on those last night before I went to my job. I had a nice set up. Then I went crazy trying out functions and screwed it all up. :P But I did learn a way to use the fake stones which is better than I normally use them.
The water is shallow in the tgd. But I need to find a way to use the rock for eddies and swirls. It would also be neat to be able to control the waves by wind direction. I may be upgrading to the animation version next spring.
Starting from scratch.
sorry for the cryptic comment ^^
I meant that the light is very very good !!!
it looks like studio's light in old movies.
it gives a "model" look to the render but it is as Dune stated before me, one of your best render so far.
nice wavy displacements, however I think it lacks some kinda contrast
good job none the less
