Title: Ugly wip
Post by: dandelO on November 28, 2010, 10:08:40 AM
It isn't pretty, just playing with more snow again, seems everyone is.
Only a test of a new surface layer I'm playing with.
Seems a shame to post this and lower the tone of the fantastic renders here lately but it was only a half hour test render using RTA.(that's only about half as long as the previous, smaller one, which didn't use RTA).

Meh, back later, I'm building an igloo with the kids(a real one, that is, pics to follow, if it doesn't collapse!).

* Lots of work still to do on this surface, like sparkles, small displacements, better intersection rules etc...

Looks pretty, I like the sun.

Just make sure you pack the snow hard into a plastic form. The blocks of snow will stay 'blockier' that way.

So far I like the snow on the foreground! You said you used displacement intersection?
The rock-face looks a bit like an image map to me. Roughening that up and playing with the smoothing effect of the snow layer will add some interesting displacements to your snow, as you probably know already.

Cheers,
Martin

The intersection is favour depressions, with a terrain gradient patch size of just 2m. My intersection settings are; zone=0.5, shift=1, min shift=1. Smoothing is default '1' in the layer for now.

I'll mess around more later on.
