As soon as Walli posted his new cactus I knew I was going to have to do something with it. I made it a few times bigger than what he had intended it to be, but I wanted it to be the main focus here. Spent a good amount of time working on a pretty nice fake stone bed and then cranked the sun elevation up to be sometime around noon so I would get some hard shadows and promptly blew out the sand and dirt altogether, oh well. Added a variety of other cacti and then rendered. Re-rendered the image using distance shaders to make a depth mask and then postworked the depth of field. Thanks to Walli for the great detailed cactus.
This is a fun little image :). It's a good showcase of Walli's plant, and the other elements (such as the lighting and distribution of the other cacti) are pleasing as well. Nice job.
nice hard light !
Step carefully. Looks like the real thing.
funny, I never have seen so much of my plants in such an "intensity". Grasses don“t count here, cause you seldom can spot separate individuals.
Nice one!
Wow... just wow!
sharp!
great collection of cacti!
nice work Ryan
is dof post?
Thanks everyone, it was a fun waste of an afternoon for sure.
Yes the depth of field was done in post Dhavalmistry. Details were in the original post for how I did it.
Great work Ryan, I'm a real fan of cactus. Coincidentally, I'm also working with Walli's new cactus.
