Nice try Seth, But I can tell the ground is a photo ;) Excellent work on this! The lighting in your vegitation is perfect, and the entire terrain is one of the most realistic ones I've seen come out of TG2!

Fantastic! This one really touched my heart. Not because of the Mirages, they don't add to the picture in my mind. I do love the ground though.  :)

hehe thanks guys !

@dhavalmistry : please tell me about the clouds... what's wrong with them ?

I think there is too much going on in the clouds. Maybe lower the fractal contrast and roughness. I have interpreted this as a clam image and I would prefer the clouds to be calm as well but that is just my opinion :D

I think the clouds are too blobby, at least in the foreground. I would up the edge detail. It will be difficult with this lighting I think. Even on real clouds in the real world, the details tend to merge.
Perhaps a ridged cloud noise would work better.

I think the lighting is great and the landscape is top notch.

O i see...
I guess it is a matter of taste and... well the horizontal fov is 100, so... it changes pretty much everything ;)
and as stated by njeneb, with this light... ^^

Great work. I don't really think the Mirages add very much but the ground is beautifully done. Perhaps increase the AA a smidgen next time, though, cause there are a couple of plants that look a bit too sharp to me.

Overall, though, this is a really nice image.

Great one Franck!  I think the clouds are fine, and are beautiful as is.  Fantastic vegetation distribution, it really helps everything look natural!  My finger is itching to use the clone stamp to remove the airplanes though  :P

Your surface work is outstanding Franck, as is the sky and light. The detail of the surface and plants are perfectly lighted.

Really stunning image! I think the sky is rather nice. I don't really care about the planes one way or the other, but I don't think you'd lose anything if you removed them.

I haven't said anything yet, but here's my opinion:  :o  I think the jets should be there, they're subtle and give the angle of the view a meaning. The terrain is absolutely great, especially the central lighted area. Simplicity in features (not too many 'things') is often a good thing for a strong image. This proves it again.

Hey thank you Dune ! i did put the jets for that purpose. but it seems people don't like them ;) thanks again for the comments guys

I don't like the jets ;) lol
Won't surprise you to hear that from me ;D

I like the image and especially the clouds.
The vegetation and terrain might improve from some better AA and render settings tweaks.
Lighting and mood is, as always, very good!

Cheers,
Martin

Beautiful work again Seth.
The vegetation layout is very natural.
Vignette also works well for this shot, and ties in well to the view and the dreaded jets.

AA 10
atmo sample 32

lol Martin, I know that you don't like the jets !!! ;)
the funny thing is that the terrain is really ugly in "normal" lighting (as you must know)
Oh and just a little add about lighting : there are 2 suns and 2 enviro light ^^

terrain, plants, lighting, colors - fantastic! But the jets..

;D

I wouldn´t remove them, but I also have some issues with those mirages:
-the angle they are flying...I think that manouver would be very dangerous, looks like an "Abfangmanöver" very close to the ground (didn´t find the translation, can someone help out?)
-shutter issue: the planes are close and I guess they are fast. If you shoot them with a static camera, then the planes should be blurred to a certain degree. If the camera follows the planes, then the landscape should be blurred. Because of that the jets look very static to me and so somehow destroy the illusion for me.

I understand ! that was my main problem... this render is the 100th frame of the project but after several tries, i took off the motion blur. but you have the point. they look static indeed. too bad there is so much problem with flickering and crop renders... i'll see next time ^^ thanks man

Mirage trend ? :D

Mostly when i look at an image i nearly instantly like it or not.
Every body knows-maybe subconsciously if there is a problem with the image or not.
I hadn't a problem with the jets.
The tilt angle the wide FOV and the clouds shape and such was enough to give the sense of motion.
The image is crisp and the jets are far enough to not make motion blur much visible anyway(i think).
There could be jet trails or so but in real photos are many planes without such visible trails too.
Some times it looks like a cliche too !

Strangely i had only one real question to ask and it was about the light !
Thus i asked about the Sun position ;)
But Seth said they were in the same position. So i thought this is normal.
The light at the edges of the objects (i couldn't find the right word ) looked a little to much to me.
I though if this was possible with one light and with more then 1 in the same position .
It is it seems !

Seth this is a good image !
I wrote about the jets too ; I feel relaxed know  :)

the first sun has a strength of 4 and all tab are checked
the second sun has a strength of 2, but no visible disc and not glowing in atmosphere ;)
as for the enviro light, i kept the original one and then i add a second one with  strength 0.8 on surface and 0.2 on atmo... oh and i change the colour of this 2nd enviro light to a bit yellow ^^

thanks for your comments guys !!!
i really really like useful critics ;D
