Seems a bit rough looking. What AA did you use? It may be the DOF.

dof is great but I think its been blurred too much....and agree with Henry about the render being rough....pumping up AA will help...

and then a 40hour render this one took 12 hours alone ::)
such a shock since i have been working with vray and mentalray for the past month urgh terragen is soooooo slow
im finding more and more ways to take it out of my workflow unfortunately

I dont think vray and mental ray are made to handle "procedural everything".....there are lot of calculations involved in procedural compared to object rendering.....

yes TG2 is slow compared to vue (depending what is in the scene) but they are working on it :)

have patience...

To be honest I think with the latest version of TG the speed isn't to bad, especially when you consider what dhavalmistry has said. In fact with the right settings the renders can be quite nippy (for what its doing).

Also you can't really compare vray with tg2.

I am really enjoying the new speed.

Wetbanana, are you working on another render for this? I hope so, I keep looking at it and would like to see more.

I like everything, but would prefer the clouds to be wispier.  Good to see you back.  I'm hoping to get back here within the next few weeks to join in the rendering fun.

nope im not wasting anymore power and time on this lol it took me hours to set up the populations with that antiquated scatter ::)
i miss multiscatter:(

Hmmm... I have had population instancing take quite a long time myself. I find something to do, like clean up my apt.

no i mean actually set them up i had to set it up 20 times for 20 different grass species
unlike vues eco multiscatter which you can just load all the models you need and scatter them at once no pissing around copy and pasting coordinates etc

I sometimes use power fractals for object scattering. You invert one power fractal for one of the pops. After that use the color controls for mixing them to soften the transitions.

I always use PF's for scattering, sometimes also a painted shader, and some color adjust shader to enlarge or shrink the PF's variety.
