Dark Era - concept art from a long-running (slowly developing) wip story sci-fi/fantasy project that i am collaborating on with a friend.
i will go deeper into this soon.
credit goes to freelancah for the star backdrop and cloud nodes.
space craft from the moronstudios website.
the full 3200x1800 version can be found here- http://-zagadka-.deviantart.com/#/d34goi6
considering rendering it larger, so you can see more cloud/space craft details better.
C&C welcome.
the spacecraft looks very flat at the moment.....but the clouds look great!!.....did you use the new functions available for cloud control?
yeah currently that spacecraft is temporary, i dunno, it might just be the lighting.
when i have the time i will be replacing it with one i will model myself.
the clouds are currently not using any of the new cloud controls, just warp shaders/PF's/functions
i'll try experimenting with the new cloud controls soon, well i actually already have - just haven't had enough time to experiment with it enough.
yes, i like the clouds a lot too.
The clouds do look good. Try using fill lights a little on the spaceship.
Excellent clouds - I like the overall feel.
Glad to hear someone is actually using the stuff. I thought it was just taking space, lol. ;)
Perhaps you should try the fill light setup to light the space ship
thanks for the comments,
added fill lighting, new render should be out soon. increased the cloud quality/ changed optimization settings as well.
Freelancah: your starscape i used looks pretty good imo.
"the ancient Ainurai spacecraft descends into the planet's atmosphere investigating strange a phenomenon on the planets surface"
The end of the Dark Era - taking place an estimated 100,000 years ago before the 25th century on the planet which would later known as sloughwhen, which was covered in a thick layer of massive storm clouds that cover the entire planet, and block out the light from the sun.
at that time its only inhabitants were two sentient races, the dwarf-like Dwarhin, and the bony pale skinned hominids known as the Nagalitkh.
the inhabitants lived in a world of darkness, only illuminated by fires and lava, and had never seen the light of day.
The arrival of the aliens known as the Ainurai (space wizards) would bring light to the dark world of Sloughwhen.
fill lights added, postwork done, lens flare/sun effect, backdrop.
i made a 2nd version with more postwork (photo/film filter effect), i will post it if enough ppl like this one.
C&C welcome
the original is 3840x2200 :)
will post it on DA soon.
I like this version better...it would be good if you could get some of that red rim light on the spaceship!
I like that second version! As suggested before, I would put a rimlight on the ship, so that the shape gets better defined. And probably a post effect glow on the engines.
looking real nice, love the cloudshapes!
different postworked version at a different pov, lower altitude.
i used to Lightwave's Virtual Darkroom, & a LW lensflare
C&C welcome.

Great, too bad about all the shortcuts on your desktop. I always stick them under the start button (and then up). Fast and clean.
Pin them to the taskbar. (Windows 7) I put less often used programs into the start menu.
This is a really great render. It has a Babylon 5 look.
cleaned up much of the desktop, still cleaning
my at home desktop has the win7 wallpaper slideshow feature going, i'm using a collection of sci-fi/fantasy matte painting wallpaper currently (remember my DeviantArt matte painting post?)
but steam games seem to disable when i quit a game so i have to reenable it.
i have more concept art renders planned in the future, but they will be different from this one, i will probably end up making some of my own custom trees for some.
the 3840x2200 took around 17 hours, if i want i could make it bigger. ;)
currently on my Christmas break. :)
here is the 3rd variation of the dark era clouds. :)
C&C welcome
