Title: TG 2.2 Update It´s exelent!
Post by: PeterParker on December 08, 2010, 10:19:18 AM
Hello to everyone here in the forum,

what do you think is the most you participate in the new update of TG 2.2?

In my opinion the rendertime is much, much shorter

Example: Resolution 1024*760, AA8, Raytrace atmosphere on = 1,20 hours

earlier version with the same options without Raytrace = 3-4 Hours

This is a real good improvement.

Thanks to the whole Terragen team for your hard work !!!  :D

Thanks for asking.  I'll try to do this during the holidays (next few weeks) when I have more time.  I've been experimenting with objects and space - what a blast!  I love this program (or did I already say that?)   :D

Has there been some optimisation in this build as it does seem faster for me as well, not sure if its just in my mind though. Maybe its the rts atmosphere option and localised clouds that's responsible for the increase.

Trust me. On my old Pentium 4 HT with its 533 MHz bus, it is a lot faster. 8)

I don't know how you do it njeneb, must be a test of your patience.

I started doing 3D on a 7.14 MHz Amiga 500. Now I calculate billions of polygons in nearly the same amount of time. I would love to go faster, but I don't have a high paying job. My job helps many people and that makes it worth it.

Sorry going a bit OT but I loved my Amiga 500. I used to use a program called Imagine 3D on it which is where I started getting into 3D as well.

Shortly after that I found a program called Vista Pro where you could create "realistic landscapes" which blew my mind. I spent a lot of time with that software and couldn't believe how amazing the landscapes looked. Looking back now and comparing the images I created then to my TG2 images puts a smile on my face because it really does show how far we have come.

OT again. You can still find Vista Pro for the PC. It's still a cool program. Compared to Terragen 2, it's not worthy anymore.

The cloud depth modulator and final density modulator are exactly the things I have been waiting for.  ;D  So I'm very happy with the new update.
