Title: Wet coastline exercise
Post by: elmoheadbutt on December 14, 2010, 04:28:47 AM
Hi all. I'm a total noob at this program lol. Day 2 of using it, followed a wet coastline tutorial and this comes up after a render. I don't know what's wrong with it, but it looks... wrong. The wet stones look like sludges lol.

Any tips?

Add a distribution shader to the Reflective shader that you used on the rocks. This can be used to limit the coverage so it is nearer the water. Use the altitude constraints of the distribution shader.

It would be a good render with the wetness limited on the rock surfaces. It's worth rendering again, and having some more fun with. ;)

I would do everything njeneb said except one thing. Use slope constraint instead of altitude constraint. Slope constraint will give you nice uneven wet areas where altitude will give you even and too perfect wet areas.......

nice start!
