Title: Last Refuge
Post by: Dune on December 27, 2010, 10:05:47 AM
Just a test actually, put some fish in, and it looks like they cannot go anywhere.... Basin painted by painted shader, lots of rocks, detail 0.8 and AA4 to get some detail in the water. A localized cloud to get the soft shadow.

Very nice looking scene, especially the "layout" of the water and the basin rocksurface.
Are you planning to play on with this or was it just for fun?

Cheers,
Martin

I like this very much. Did you carve out the depression?

Just fun, but I might have another go at it with the 'render subdiv' thing  ;)

The depression is a simple stroke with the painted shader, as a mask for a depression indeed, and inverted mask for the stones. I also added an extra surface layer (going nowhere) with displacement intersection, as a mask for the grass (to get it to grow only in depressions, which kind of works).

Looks really realistic Dune,

You're funny, "just a test". You haven't seen my tests  :)
