a quick proof of concept sketch using new cloud restriction functions and some camera trickery...It was a bit fiddly to start, but I will post a clip file of the refined version if anyone is interested...
wow Nice work
Heehee, Jason! I have almost that exact .tgd from last year but without the new cloud controls; beammeupscotty.tgd, I called it. :D I used just a simple shape to define the beam. I should look that one out now and get busy with the new settings, cheers for the reminder!
Cool work, very Zelda-esque! ;)
cheers guys, here is the grab of the nodes
Poor cow...
Those animal mutilations are a mystery; but, I think you nailed the cause here. Your UFO model is excellent as is the composition. Two things: you might consider making the cow smaller; and, maybe trying a night background. In all, this looks like is was a fun project.
You could have done this simpler; just throw a camera on the ground, point it up, attach it to a distance shader and use as blender for a cloud. But I like the image ;)
thanks Henry, Bob and Ulco, here is the next iteration....no pw just jpegged, I will tinker some more....thanks for dropping by!
Jason
:)
Looking real good! Now, the addition of a few more grazing cattle surrounding the area would be good; and, the addition of some low grasses.
More objects, and cows would be good. This is beginning to have a movie poster look. It's coming along nice.
I like the look on the cow's face! Must be great to be lifted like that. Cows in Heaven.
yeah, those aliens dont have a very good record with abducting cows.... :D

Poor cow...
i like version 2 more.
tho' the quality of the flying saucer model could be better, smoothed out/subdivided more.
great idea, Inky :-)
cheers guys,
here is the next one....
vegetation by Klas and Lightning....
btw no pw, just jpegged!
Very cool work Jason :)
A bit odd to say maybe, but I like the realistic perspective of the ground, cows and clouds :)
Now you're cooking Jason; one more thing - what if you rotate the captured cow so we get a 3/4 view of it?
thanks Martin and Bob, I will do a bit more tinkering with the populations etc and render at a slightly higher setting etc...I will keep you posted....
cheers Jason
:)
wow! the last one looks way better than the last two, :)
the grasses look great! more realistic.
my only suggestion would be some color variation to grass pops.
Great imagination! Can you edit the texture on the cows? Their current skin looks a little too low res.
cheers Lane and Ryan, the next one is rendering, added some more grasses etc and tweaked the power fractal that was the cowhide...a few other minor tweaks, I will post when it is done....
as promised here is the final version, rendered at 0.625 quality - AA4 - GI 3/2 raytraced atmo&objects, came out after just over 2.5 hours....thanks for all the input/suggestions/encouragement etc, this was a fun project!
cheers
Jason
:)
edit btw no pw! just jpegged!
everything looks good.....especially the ground...
Now, this is looking very, very good Jason. You've done some real fine work here.
Very nice result. The cows are done using the perlin 3D pop variation I guess. I'd say; make the scale a little smaller, or add a second (smaller) scale, and get the edges crisper with a color adjust shader.
Hahaha. Funny image. I agree with Dune tho. If you fix the cow textures it will be complete ;)

thanks for the info, next time I use these cows, I will fix the power fractal settings, though these are 'generically modified' cows, and chosen specifically by the vistors, as their hides did not clash with the interior of their spacecraft!!!!
:D
Haha... I love how the cows are all watching the ship like it's something only vaguely interesting... That's probably what they'd do in real life. (speaking as a vermonter). Nice work!
Guess you can't blame aliens for wanting to have a good steak, then. :D
I like those creative renders which tell a little story. Much more interesting than my boring road renders :D
Cheers,
Frank
Nice render! it makes me glad I'm not a bovine :)
