Title: Render Button/Save Button
Post by: Henry Blewer on January 05, 2011, 02:09:35 PM
I just hit the render button on the render window. I wanted to save the image. There went a 15+ hour render. :'(

Maybe the save feature of the render window could be done using a right mouse button and save? Or move the save image button over to the left more?

It's only the 2nd time I have done this in a couple years.

The image should be in your temp files folder.  It is auto saved (as a .bmp) when the render finishes.

it would be bad if you were going to save the image as a exr,

i've never done it myself, but its always been a worry.

Can that be fixed by changing the output from BMP to EXR in the Render tab?  --NO.  THIS IS NOT TRUE.  PLEASE DISREGARD.   :'(

I don't have anything which can use OpenEXR, except Blender. Blender is quite powerful, but getting a good umage using the node editor is quite challenging.

Corel Paint X2 can do HDR. I make two or three altered images with different contrast and exposure, then combine them using the HDR tool. I have not quite mastered this yet...

Photomatix is useful with EXRs as is Photoshop.

But, I should be clear - BMP is not the only image format supported in the default generated file in the hidden folders...like what we're talking about here.

I'm afraid it is, Calico. Even changing the file extension still saves temp files as .bmp. I just double checked this to be sure it hadn't changed as I was sure I've read this here somewhere before.
