Title: Help: Density shader for objects
Post by: VorpalBlade on March 25, 2007, 07:34:22 AM
I have a surface layer for grass that is restricted by min and max altitude. How can I use that surface layer as a density shader for grass objects?

I try setting the grass layer as the density shader but it looks like it is only using the grass layer's child fractal breakup.

Density shaders need to be greyscale to be able to previsualise the result. Create a white shader with the same altitude constraints as your grass shader and use that as the density shader for your population.

What if I were to turn on the color on again in the grass layer? I turned it off figuring I didn't need it since I was using an image.

Thank you

You might try to use a distribution layer for your grass population/objects as density shader

Just adjust the values in the distribution shader equal to those of your grass surface.

Dunno if this is neccessay, but I always choose for my population under the rider Terrain, behind the checkbox: sit on terrain, the terrain I want to put it on....so in this case your grass layer......

It always worked fine for me.
