Title: Strata mountains
Post by: Mor on January 30, 2011, 06:23:26 AM
I finally got my house ready and moved in so its time to sink my hands to wonderful world of terragen again :) Here's some strata and outcrops testing I made and felt this one was good enough to be shared. I'll continue tweaking this so comments and suggestions are highly appreciated.

I'd work on vegetation to make it denser.
Nice image overall! Keep working on it!

Thanks for comments. I made little additions. I added two populations of atlas cedars from the new free xfog plants and also added some boulders. This version is postworked by auto adjusting it and I think bottom is a bit too dark. Not sure if I make one more version without boulders but leaving all trees. What you think?

I agree that the bottom is too dark. It spoils the view of the trees and the sense of scale is lost because of it.
How about a slightly different POV giving some closer foreground with the trees more visible and closer to the camera?
Otherwise this is a really nice picture with great rock formations and depth of scale.

looks good, but have you checked that the textures are working properly on the new trees?
They could be adding to the darkness if they are not?
cheers

Yes, I checked the textures, because True mulga and Sabine juniper had some problems and did show up almost black.

Your strata and outcrops are very natural and rugged. You might consider using lighter color/texture maps for your vegetation.
