Title: Along the old railway
Post by: Redwolf on February 11, 2011, 01:05:50 PM
tried out a new model of rosebay, then the track then everything else, this is the third render of the scene

Nice start. The purple rosebay willow herb is a bit too bright and "clean" for my taste. It looks almost false. Try "dirtying" it up a bit.
Good concept though and nice perspective POV.

I would try breaking up the rosebay into spaced apart clumps of ten to fifteen plants. I like this. The railway looks really good. Some rust along the sides of the rails may help its 'seldom used' feeling.

i like this, looks promising.
i once tried something like this about a couple years ago with a older version of TG2 but got too frustrated with it.

this is a good start, i agree with njeneb's suggestions.

yeah i agree they look plastic and clumping them should work better, perhaps another pov of this later

sorted it out the line will be viewed from the centre mostly to the right and disappear into trees on the horizon, I have changed the colour of the flowers to a dirty pink and the DO look better on a small render

Will fully render it tonight, bedtime

Very nice. I would suggest you make the color of some of the grasses around the track rail a dry color. Also, you might thin out the spacing of the pink flowers while maybe having some multiple size variations.

Good one Redwolf!

Like the colours and the composition.

Like you said, maybe add some dry grass here and there to break up the green, but why bother. It looks good.

That looks great! I like it in this pov too. I also like how you have sunk the sleepers into the ground so that some stones appear on top of them, cool. 8)

Hi

The new POV is better and the tower is okay,
but sorry, for the realism the clouds now are to strange.

Your rework is looking fine. I think the cirrus clouds pattern looks very natural.

Like all three images but no 2 is still a favourite. Great shadows on the grass and the tracks.

@Redwolf: will you upload your pink flower to NWDA community store? Both the model and texturing looks good.

Cheers

rerendered this with raytrace objects off. The petals are missing from the pink and yellow flowers, so i dont think ill do that again but maybe structural objects would benefit

Seems to me if you have enough polys then RTO off has some advantages

Did you remember to check the population quality settings after disabling RTO? I think that's probably why they've rendered incorrectly, the default setting is 'medium' quality.

This image has evolved beautifully ...you're almost there.

Good that you mention that, Martin. Totally forgot, being used to check RTO every time.
